Whew! Recovering from the Make A Mark event yesterday. 12 hours straight of #designforgood with some awesome collaborators. I love that I got to create some illustrations to help tell the story of the amazing work that Bountiful Cities is doing through their various programs of social advocacy through urban agriculture.
My team mates Jim Bixby of 828 Design and Fabiana DiMarco of @anthroware were so great to collaborate with and did such great work with the layout and branding. Power to the people!
Really cool to see all the different design solutions other teams came up with for their projects too. Humbled and grateful to be part of such an amazing community of creatives.

Good morning Asheville!
I’m up bright and early today to participate in @lets_makeamark. Over 30 creatives are coming together at @hatchavl to volunteer for a 12 hour make a thon where we are put together into teams, to fulfill a creative brief for one of nine participating non profits.
I’m on the team for Bountiful Cities and we’re stoked to bring it on for @grasstogreens! 🌾
Look for updates in my story today.
I’ve been re reading meditations by Marcus Aurelius and have been sitting with this quote a bit.
“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
It’s definitely one that resonates with me as no matter how we plan our journey, life has a way of placing obstacles in our path.
We get to choose how to engage with them. It can motivate or deflate. I tend to take an obstacle as a challenge to prove I can overcome it, work around it, work with it, or pick it up and carry it along until I figure out what to do with it. It may prove to be useful after all.
Also it’s ok to just put it down and move on. There really are no rules to this thing. Just more what you might call guidelines.

Here’s a sneak peek at a mood board for a new brand I’m working on. After initial client interview and preliminary research, this collection images and color serves as a general inspiration tool and guide post to agree upon feel and tone as we work to develop the logo and branding.
Sending out a little love this Father’s day.
Teaching our kids to choose love over hate, fear, tribalism, the list goes on and on, is a never ending labor of… Love.
Thanks to the father figures in my life who’ve set the example and shown me love even when I was difficult. ♥️

Projects I’ve touched today include three logo / branding jobs, poster designs and recording a radio spot for a non profit, measuring an arm for a veterinarian’s tattoo design, digging into a slide deck and gathering data for a climate info graphic. I’m probably forgetting a few other things.
